In Remembrance:
(also See the Sad News - Good News page: (Here))
As part of this memorial, we are compiling the dates and causes of death for the classmates listed below. If any of you know some, or all, of the details about these unfortunate departures, please send an e-mail with this information to: Hazel Smith France: (haze-1@cox.net) or any other member of the Edditorial Committee.
As of June 1, 2010, of the 341 original graduates, as far as we know, 71 have passed away (21%), which indicates 79% of us are still here. However, if we assume that the 6 presumed missing are, in fact, dead, then 23% of us have passed away, leaving 264 or 77% of us to carry on for as long as reasonably possible.
The list below is in order of date of death. See below for plots that indicate the cause, number of deaths by year, and % of classmates remaining (as of the date shown).

For additional information on many of the above classmates, see: (Here).
For other LHS classes, see: (Here). Chet Karwowski, husband to Carol Carol Karwowski
of the Class of 1960, has provided these two lists.
Job well done.
_________________________________________________________Of Note:
Some of you have suggested that our class members are departing at an increasing rate in the past few years. In response, we have constructed a plot of # deaths/yr vs. year to monitor this activity. The plot below indicates that the rate is consistent with the past seven years. Notice that almost all the deaths are due to cancer. However, the year 2005 does show a slight up-turn....However, 2006 and 2007 turned out to be better years than expected. 2008 is consistent with previous years. Therefore, the rate is stable.
What say we all get back to the gym, start or resume walking, or get some other type of exercise? Also, let's say we knock off those White Castle burgers and fries. We know it's not easy. Speaking of death (or how to postpone it), here is a note from one of our own regarding how to identify and how to recover from a stroke, click (here). If you smoke, quit now. Please. If some of us can, so could you.
